Art in the Public Interest
API is a non-profit organization that supports the belief that the arts are an integral part of a healthy culture, and provide significant value both to communities and artists. Art in the Public Interest is best known for two major programs, High Performance magazine, published until 1997, and the Community Arts Network, which was active from 1999 to 2010. API is no longer engaged in any active projects or programming other than our efforts to make the High Performance and the Community Arts Network archives of stories, essays, interviews and more available on the Internet.

This American Life
This American Life is a weekly public radio show broadcast on more than 500 stations to about 2.2 million listeners. It is produced in collaboration with Chicago Public Media, delivered to stations by PRX The Public Radio Exchange, and has won all of the major broadcasting awards. It is also often the most popular podcast in the country, with another 2.4 million people downloading each episode.

Writing Ourselves Whole
WOW offers safe, confidential writing groups to a broad cross-section of the writer community, and in particular to those who are living in the aftermath of intimate violences. WOW engages in a non-clinical, transformative and communal approach for those living with and in the aftermath of trauma, and recognizes that resurrecting one's own language and stories is a necessary part of re-ordering one's life after trauma.
